General Contest Information:
The “Capture Camden, NC” photo contest is back in 2025, with a few new additions & changes! The Camden County Tourism Development Authority (TDA), Friends of the Camden County Public Library and NC Cooperative Extension- Camden Center & 4H invites you to submit your images to our 2025 photo contest, January 7th, 2025- April 7th, 2025.
Everyone loves capturing memories, so we want you to share them with us whether you were enjoying a local event or festival, hanging out on the water, hiking one of the many trails or really anything any between! Some of these images may be chosen to be displayed in County administration offices and utilized in promotional materials, like Our State Magazine! All images must be taken in Camden County within the past two years.

WHO CAN ENTER?
Adult Division:
The contest is open to anyone over the age of 18 years old and a U.S. Resident. Judges are not eligible to submit an entry. (All youth or enrolled school students must submit entries in the Youth division, even if over 18.)
Youth Division:
The contest is open to youth, grades 6-12. A parent or guardian’s name MUST be included on the submission form when entering the contest.
Categories:
1. Scenic Scapes (Land or Water) ~ It’s no secret that one of Camden County’s greatest assets is the natural beauty. Everywhere you look, you’re sure to find incredible views across land and water anytime of the year. Scenic scapes can also include barns, churches, and bridges!
2. Wildlife ~ Who doesn’t love animals? They’re beautiful, majestic and abundant throughout our rural county. Share your images of a furry, winged or even scaly critter!
3. Wildcard – If your image does not fit into one of the above categories, but you think it deserves recognition……. we want to see it! This could include shots from local festivals, events, sporting activities & more.

Photos will be accepted from January 7th, 2025-April 7th, 2025, at midnight.
By submitting a photo, you agree your entry complies with the Official Rules.

A TOTAL of 10 images may be submitted per entrant.

Each photo must be in digital format- 300 dpi resolution or higher (may be disqualified if less)

Each photo must have a title-make sure it reflects a sentiment from your captured image

Each photo must be placed in one of the listed categories

Photos must be taken by the person submitting and are the property of the entrant.

Photos must comply with all applicable laws. Any obscene, defamatory, inappropriate entries will be disqualified at our discretion.

Photos may not have been published previously for monetary payment. If a submitted photo has already won an award in a previous Camden Photo Contest, it is ineligible.

Minor editing of the photo is acceptable, ex. brightness, contrast, color saturation. Extensive editing, borders, frames, or other graphics will disqualify entry. No text, watermarks, credits, dates will be allowed on images. Submitted images that do not fulfill these requirements will not be accepted.
Judges:
Judges are chosen on professional experience, to ensure our contest is fair and equitable. Upon the receipt of digital files, a number will be assigned to each image. Judges will NOT have access to the names of the photographers related to images. Judges will judge the quality of the image digitally, to avoid any conflicts on image quality in print. Judging will be based on quality, composition content, originality, creativity and mass appeal for each category.
Awards:
Each Adult & Youth division category will feature a Blue Ribbon-1st place/Red Ribbon-2nd place/Yellow Ribbon-3rd place.
Adult Division Awards:

Camden Commissioners Award – Commissioners will collectively choose their favorite photo from all Blue-Ribbon Winners in each category for this award.

Camden County Manager Award – County Manager will choose one favorite photo from all Blue-Ribbon Winners in each category for this award.

People’s Choice Awards- Blue Ribbon winning photos will be posted on Facebook and voted on. The image with the most likes, will be awarded.
Youth Division Awards:

Board of Education Award – Board of Education will collectively choose their favorite photo from all Blue-Ribbon Winners in each category for this award.

Camden School Superintendent Award – Camden School Superintendent will choose one favorite photo from all Blue-Ribbon Winners in each category for this award.

People’s Choice Awards- Blue Ribbon winning photos will be posted on Facebook and voted on. The image with the most likes, will be awarded.
All decisions will be final. Only winners will be notified.
The Blue-Ribbon winners in each category will be printed, matted, framed and displayed in Camden County Buildings and/or community spaces and recognition will be shared on the Camden County Social media platforms, Camden County websites and acknowledged at the Camden County Board of Commissioners meeting in May 2025. A special photo exhibition will also be scheduled at the Camden County Public Library- Community Room in May. (More details to be announced closer to May.)
We will email or call winners no later than April 18th. If a valid email address and telephone number are not provided, your entry may be disqualified.
Other important information:
While all copyrights remain with the photographer, the Camden Tourism Development Authority, Camden County Public Library and NC Cooperative Extension- Camden Center will retain unrestricted and unlimited usage of all images submitted for the purposes of education and promoting Camden County.
We may terminate or modify any part of the contest at any time for any reason.
We may disqualify anyone who violates these Official Rules.
All entrants agree to release and hold harmless Camden County and Camden County Tourism Authority, Camden County Public Library and NC Cooperative Extension- Camden Center from all claims related to this contest.
