#BlackHistoryMonth ~ #DYK the Great Dismal Swamp is believed to have been the home to one of the largest maroon colonies in the United Sates from the late 1600s to the end of the Civil War.

🔎Years of historic archaeology field work by Dr. Dan Sayers and his team have uncovered thousands of artifacts from the islands, plots of high ground, throughout the swamp.

Today, the Dismal Swamp State Park, Dismal Swamp Welcome Center and Great Dismal Swamp National Wildlife Refuge are designated sites on the National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom.

Important Info to Remember:
🔹Deadline: Registration and payment must be received by August 25th, 2025.
🔹FOOD TRUCKS ~ A maximum of #15 food/beverage trucks will be accepted. Registration Fee: $150
🔹All other vendors~ A maximum of #150 vendors will be accepted.
🔹Registration Fee For-Profit: $50 for a 10x10 space
🔹Non-profit & Educational : FREE for a 10x10 space
🔹 Rain Date- Sept. 21, 2025
